Scandinavian 19th Century Cheese Maker’s Board

About the Item

A 19th century Scandinavian cheese maker's board hand-crafted from solid wood circa 1879. Genuine and rustic, this rectangular hollowed out, paddle shaped board was used for draining and separating the cheese and whey. Made of a solid plank of white pine. This board has a nice patina and is very tactile. In good antique condition with minimal wear. Inscribed into the wood on the reverse is the mark “D E L 1879” in fine script. Light in weight but sturdy and deep. This board would make a wonderful addition as a culinary antique or piece of folk art.
