About the Item

This is an exquisite antique silver-plated Victorian centrepiece in the form of a gondola with a removable jardiniere. The underside bears the impressed mark of the silversmith that made it, William Maples & Sons, circa 1890 in date. There is no mistaking the unique quality and design of this gorgeous centrepiece in the form of a youth rowing a gondola. It features a gondola with a jardiniere grid and lining mounted on a base decorated with waves and shell motifs standing on four dolphin's feet. The jardiniere lining can be removed so that the gondola could be used for sweets, nuts, etc. A lot of intricate detailing has gone into the creation of this beautiful item. This is an extremely well designed and attractive piece that can only grow in value. Condition: In excellent condition with clear makers mark and no dings, dents or signs of repair.
