Art Deco French Bowl and Vase in Half Ground Red Crystal

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Particular French Art Deco bowl made of half crystal to which has been matched a pretty vase with the same workmanship, thus forming an attractive and pleasant set; the two objects are of such size that they can be placed alone rather than in pairs; the bowl is low and slender; the vase has been cut in an intelligent way and its shape is aesthetically proportioned; the ground on the two objects, masterfully executed, are geometric and well decided; the bowl and the vase were made using half-crystal, coloring it with sulfur, cadmium, and selenium to obtain the red color, then they were ground and polished; These operations were carried out between 1932 and 1939 by an expert glassmaker in a laboratory in Alsace (France), an area famous for its traditional glass, ceramics, and textiles; this prosperous region, bordering Germany, was the first in France to adopt the aesthetic taste of Art Deco that was spreading from Mittle-Europe. Unlike crystal, the glass from which "half-crystal" is made contains no lead; the half-crystal is faceted by a machine and then placed in an electric furnace to make the edges of the faces less sharp, then heat or fire-polished (Fire Polished) to give it a bright, shiny finish with an icy effect. The objects are in good condition, only on the vase, there is a slight scratch and three small color deficiencies that we have highlighted in the photos. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
