French 19th Century Restauration Period Ormolu Surtout De Table Centerpiece
About the Item
A spectacular and monumentally scaled French 19th century Restauration period ormolu surtout de table mirrored centerpiece plateau. The most impressive three piece plateau is raised by six scrolled foliate supports below a charming wrap around fluted band tied with fine acanthus leaves. A sensational and most decorative pierced wrap around gallery extends around the original mirror plates displaying an exceptional array of lovely interlocking scrolled Rinceau foliate designs. The gallery is adorned with superb grape clusters, beautiful seashells, and richly chased perched phoenix in a rich satin and burnished finish. The plateau can be separated into three pieces and retains its original concealed casters. The middle rectangular piece can also be removed and the outer piece placed together to create a smaller plateau depending on the occasion. The restoration period also known as "La Restauration" was the period between 1814-1830.
