1950s Italian Ceramic Bowls

About the Item

These 1950s Italian Ceramic Bowls are expertly crafted, being as they are strong and smooth. The piece was hand molded and hand painted. The design is organic and flowing, the paint rises ever so slightly to give a soft texture to the bowl. Italy in the 1950s was a scene of great artistic foment characterized by a succession of poetics, styles and important exponents on the arts scene. After the Fascist Period, which nonetheless saw the development of classical-modern themes as well as vanguard creations, Italy experienced a new-found artistic vitality involving above all its younger generations. This clear break from the immediate past is indicative of a desire for knowledge and contact with contemporary artistic developments throughout the world, including ceramics. These would look great as a center piece, jewelry holder, candy bowl, or anything in between. It has a subtle pop of color which can bring a whole room together.
