19th Century French Polychrome Painted Terracotta Sculpture Signed J. Le Guluche

About the Item

This fine, antique sculpture was crafted in France, circa 1880. Made of terracotta, and titled "Les Deux Gosses" (The Two Kids), the sculpture composition features an outdoor scene with two young boys; one child stokes the fire while the other is watching. There are also two older people looking on from above. The figural work of art is signed on the front Joseph Le Guluche. The composition is in excellent condition with wonderful details and a rich patinated finish. Joseph Le Guluche (1849-1915), was a French sculptor who mainly used terracotta as his medium. His work is divided into several broad categories: seascapes, rural subjects, and female allegories. A set of his works are preserved in the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire Louis-Senlecq in L'Isle-Adam, France. Measures: 12" W x 6" D x 13" H.
