David Leach Lowerdown Pottery Studio Pottery Foxglove Pattern Vase

About the Item

A very stylish Lowerdown Pottery stoneware studio pottery vase decorated in the foxglove pattern by renowned potter David Leach (British, 1911-2005) dating from around 1965. The heavily hand thrown vase stands on a flat unglazed rounded base with the vase of slightly bellowing cylindrical shape with a square shaped angled flat top edge. The body of the vase is hand decorated with a foxglove painted in brown, blue and red against a light stoneware grey glazed ground with tenmoku glazes applied around the top edge. The vase has impressed personal and pottery marks to the base and bears an original paper purchase label with the price of £100 probably dating back to when originally acquired in the 1960’s. Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market. In good overall condition with a few natural firing flaws within the glazed finish.
