Early Mason's Ironstone Teapot Stand in Fence, Rock and Gold Flower Ptn

About the Item

This is a very good teapot stand in the fence, rock and gold flower pattern made by Mason's Ironstone in the early 19th century Georgian period, circa 1813-1820 Teapot stand's by Mason's Ironstone are rare items and this is a very early one, manufactured circa 1815. This stand is circular and is heavily potted with a stronger foot rim and a heavily supported central rimmed stand to support a tea pot or small tureen. The pattern is hand painted over-glaze with typical bold enamels and a large flower painted in Gold, possibly over an under-glaze transfer printed outline. This pattern is one of Mason's earliest Chinoiserie influenced designs called the "Fence, Rock and Gold Flower", as illustrated on page 89 of a guide to Mason's patent ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The base carries the single line impressed mark stating "Mason's Patent Ironstone China", dating this piece to circa 1815-1820. Dimensions; Outer diameter: 7~3/16 inches Stand top inner circle diameter: 4.5 inches inside and 5 inches outside A good piece with many practical uses as a stand or dish.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Very Good Antique Condition NO Chips, NO Cracks, NO Restoration. Some wear from use and slight glaze crazing. Gilding very good and bright enamels to the pattern.
