Early Miles Mason Saucer Dish Porcelain Boy at Door Pattern, circa 1805
About the Item
This is a porcelain Saucer Dish or Bowl in the "Boy at the Door" pattern, made by Miles Mason (Mason's) dating to very early in the 19th century.
This dish or bowl is well potted with vertically fluted sides and a wavy rim shape.
The piece has been hand painted in bold enamels over a transfer printed chinoiserie pattern called "Boy at the Door". This pattern is a close copy of an original Chinese porcelain pattern as illustrated and discussed in the book: Miles Mason Patterns and Shapes published by The Mason's Collectors' Club, pages 74 and 75.
Many other English factories including Harley and New Hall also produced similar versions of this pattern but this piece is by Miles Mason.
The piece is unmarked to the base and we date it to circa 1805.
