Helga Ingeborga Melnbarde - 'Portrait' - Important contemporary European studio ceramic plate - hand painted on a Czech porcelain 'blank' - featuring an Expressionist female portrait with scar and 'infinity' gilt border - signed and dated verso - Latvia - circa 1988.
Excellent condition - no loss - no damage - no restoration - minor surface scratches with minimal signs of age and use.
Size/Dimensions - Medium - 7" (17.5 cm.) Diameter x 3/4" (2 cm.) Deep.
BIO - Helga Ingeborga Melnbarde is well known in international studio ceramics circles - she is an artist and docent at the University of Latvia - her works have captivated collectors worldwide - examples of her work and a more extensive biography can be found online - a solo show of her past and current work is at the Riga Porcelain Museum from February 15 - April 15, 2018.
