Large Chinese Export Style Famille Rose Enameled Porcelain Charger, circa 1900
About the Item
A massive famille rose enameled Chinese export style charger, Continental, probably French, circa 1900.
The large dish painted in vibrant famille rose enamels in an overall pink tone, with a central design of a pair of long tailed birds perched among peony and plum branches, all in a garden setting.
The rim decorated with a diaper ground with blue and yellow chrysanthemums and four reserved cartouches featuring the eight Taoist emblems.
With a label on the back mis-identifying the piece as 18th century Chinese Export made for the Compagnie des Indes (French East India Company), and two collection stickers.
