About the Item
A large unique faience figure in the shape of a rooster. Handmade by the artist Janine Janet in the 1950s. Decorated with cream coloured glaze as well as greyish brown glazed feather motifs and decor. Signed Janine Janet. Bought and with paper label from Illums Bolighus, Copenhagen.
As an artist, Janine Janet was primarily known for her art installations and sculptural objects made in collaboration with Parisian fashion houses, for which she created unique window decorations and sculptures. She also worked as a costume designer, and she was thus quite versatile as an artist working with both sculptures, ceramics and costumes.
