A Minton Majolica Stag's Head Small Taza in Cobalt Blue, English, ca. 1868
About the Item
A Minton Majolica Small Tazza formed as a shallow bowl supported by a horn and naturalistic stag's head, with green stylized leaves, the oval base glazed in cobalt, with gadrooned edging glazed in ocher, with turquoise interior, the reverse with impressed marks: 'MINTON' and design number '973' which corresponds to the entry, 'TAZZA, STAG'S HEAD (M)' as recorded in the Minton Ornamental Shapes (i.e., design books) preserved in the Minton archives and reprinted in J. Jones.
