Vintage signed Paul Anthony Abstract Modernist Studio Art Pottery textured.
Anthony Stoneware is an American pottery founded in 1966 by Paul Anthony with the vision & passion to produce functional ceramic ware of high material integrity, excellent design and pleasing aesthetic.
Anthony Stoneware is the pottery of Paul Anthony and Tim Jaqua who work from their studio in Western North Carolina using traditional techniques of wheel-throwing and slab construction. Not only do they mix their own glazes, but the pottery is fired in a gas-fired kiln which they designed and built.
Each piece is handcrafted on the potter's wheel or constructed from clay slabs using techniques that Paul and Tim have been developing in the studio since 1966.
Carved and sculpted rims are prevalent and have become the signature design element of their work.
All ware is fired to 2400o F to create a very durable, vitreous product that will not decay, fade, or breakdown, which with care will become an heirloom.
A great pottery pieces with a lot of visual and textural interest.
MARKINGS: signed and stamped impressed with Paul Anthony and his logo on the bottom.
Individually made, unusual glaze craftsmanship contrasts with mottled colors, each piece is slightly different, full of artistic beauty.
