Pair of Yorkshire Pottery Figures of Cows Prattware, Early 19th Century

About

A pair of Pottery Prattware cows modeled standing with a farmer, his wife, dog, and a calf. The cows are decorated with burnt orange patches with black speckles. The female figure is wearing a low shoulder dress and stands with a calf lying at her feet. The male figure is wearing a black top hat and is holding a basin, his trusty dog is lying at his feet. The bases have a sponge decorated rim of blue, ochre and black in the Classic Yorkshire pottery style. The pair are of exceptional quality with strong hand applied underglaze colors. Medium: prattware pratt pottery ceramic earthenware Provenance: Retains paper labels of Jonathan Horne the eminent English pottery dealer. Then with private collection in Cornwall England. Literature: Pages 85/90 PRATTWARE by John and Giselda Lewis. Dated: 1810 Yorkshire England.
