Rare Goldscheider Vienna Figurine, Girl With Doll, by Claire Weiss, circa 1934

About the Item

Little girl in a red short coat with a white collar, matching short pants and a red barge hat with a white ribbon, bending down towards the upright doll with a blonde pageboy head and carefully adjusting the large green bow on the collar of the green and white striped dress. On a cream-colored, flat oval base. Designer: Claire/Klára Herczeg/Weiss (1906 - 1997) Sculptor, childhood in Vienna, apprenticeship as a sculptor at the Vienna Arsenal Foundry, studies at the Budapest Art Academy, designs for several manufactories from 1940 mainly active in Budapest, state and municipal commissions, important representative of socialist Hungarian sculpture. Model created circa 1933/1934.
