Signed Regency Green Ceramic Cabbage Tureen w/ Lid by Jean Roger Paris France

About the Item

An incredibly beautiful and rare Hollywood Regency ceramic tureen by French artist Jean Roger. This piece is created by hand and features delicate bright green cabbage or lettuce leaves that are applied around the body by hand. The lid features the same leaves arranged in a circular pattern with a scored design. Both the underside of the base and the underside of the lid are signed by the artist with "Jean Roger Paris, Made in France". Cabbageware or Lettuceware became popular in the mid-20th century and became increasingly more collectible following the artist Dodie Thayer's pieces. Collectors across the globe have been adding pieces to their collections for decades, and this piece will be a fabulous addition. Though it is created as a tureen, it could also be used as a planter, cachepot, jardinière or champagne or ice bucket. Dimensions: 7.5" Tall 10" Diameter
