Swiss charger-shaped faience plaque depicting a lakeside chateau Swiss, late 19th century Measures: Frame: Depth 7cm, diameter 50cm Plaque: Depth 4cm, diameter 39cm This beautiful framed faience charger is superbly decorated with a variety of forms and motifs. The central circular panel is painted with a view of a Swiss lake and lakeside chateau. This view is surrounded by a wonderful floral border, the floral patterns composed from a whole host of vibrant colours and wrought in an Islamic style. The plaque is contained by an ebonised wood frame. The reverse is signed ‘Thoune’, indicated the area of Switzerland where it was produced.
