Three Vintage Fornasetti Leaf “Foglie” Plates

About the Item

Portman Gallery is pleased to offer three rare gilt transfer plates from the “Foglie” series, which have not been produced in decades. A great gift for anyone who loves: Fall, Botanical Illustration, Graphic Design, Piero Fornasetti, or groups of three. With time, all Fornasetti objects containing gilt tend to rub, and these are no exception. Please see photos for thorough visual description. Still, this rubbing takes away none from the plates, whose gilt gleams and changes tone in the light. Piero Fornasetti was above and addition to all else, a draughtsman — someone who loved to draw. This is very evident in this particular series. These plates are featured (without gilt) in the Fornasetti “Complete Universe” book on p. 609.

  • Pair of Fornasetti Red Warrior Chariot/Baghe Lamps
    By Fornasetti
    Located in Brooklyn, NY
Portman Gallery is pleased to offer this pair of vintage mid-century lamps from Fornasetti in good vintage condition, re-wired for the USA. Shades sold separately. Is there anyone for whom graphic design, Milan, humour and tromp l’oeil combine for more easily than Piero Fornasetti? The house which still produces works of the highest quality is still in operation today. But the nerdiest collectors will appreciate the vintage material which has never been reproduced, in this case these red and black enamel transfer lamps. Please inquire if you’d like the silk string shades. Photos explain condition: small losses. “The disproportion between the objects and the settings where they are placed creates new, surreal atmospheres in which a lamp is as important as a building, a salt shaker is as important as a tower, a tabletop is as important as a piazza...
