Antique 18th Century Religious Manganese Dutch Delft Tile of Abraham

About the Item

A fine 18th century Dutch Delft pottery tile in manganese. With a scene depicting the Binding of Isaac - the famous Biblical story from the book of Genesis in which Abraham is called upon by God to sacrifice his only child as a display of piety. Upon witnessing Abraham's pious devotion and willingness to slay his son in the name of God, an angel appears and Abraham is bequeathed a ram to sacrifice in the stead of his son. God then praises Abraham for the depth of his faith and utmost obedience to God. Simply a wonderful antique Deflt tile tile depicting one of the most famous Biblical scenes! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are some losses to the corners & edges as well as expected fritting, chipping, and glaze losses to the edges. Otherwise, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Height: ca. 5 1/4 in. Width: ca. 5 1/4 in. Depth: ca. 3/8 in.
