Delft Blue and White Lobed Dish with Fruit Still Life Northern Netherlands, 1665

Blue and white lobed dish with fruit still life. Northern Netherlands, 1650-1680 Dimensions: Diameter 22,9 cm / 9.01 in. The blue and white lobed dish is composed of sixteen small lobes and is painted in the centre with a still life of three quinces and grapes on a table. The depiction is framed within a double circle. The lobes are decorated with stylized floral motifs. The rim is blue. In the seventeenth century decors with all kinds of fruit are mainly painted on tiles, majolica dishes and faience plates from Delft and other Dutch production places. They are barely painted on lobed dishes.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Wear consistent with age and use. Good condition dish with usual glaze damage to the edges. The glaze has some signs of use. On the reverse two somewhat larger glaze damages.
