Creil et Montereau French Barbotine Teal Blue Fluted Asparagus Plates, Set of 4

About the Item

A set of four French barbotine majolica asparagus plates by Creil et Montereau, circa 1890. A beautiful iridescent teal blue glaze on fluted rims, with two raised asparagus spears, one bordering a deep sauce well, 19th century. This set is glazed in a scarce color. The mold is most often seen in turquoise blue. Book reference, Pg. 119 of “Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine” by Maryse Bottero Light crazing and surface wear as expected. Provenance: Vito Giallo Antiques, NYC The master serving platter to this pattern is offered separately and can be seen in the last photo.
