8 Fine Vintage Royal Worcester Hand Painted Game Plates, 10.5"

About the Item

A stunning set of 8 masterpieces in painting, this set of 8 dinner plates will fascinate you with the exquisite detail in each of the 8 miniature paintings of game birds found there. Each painting is signed by the artist, and each plate is it's own work of fine art, certainly of quality enough to be displayed in a museum, or in your china hutch or on a table for your very best sports enthusiast or bird-watcher friends. I have seldom seen finer amimalier paintings, let alone done on plates. The set is perfect for display or for use, with none of the painting extending into the center recess of the plates, or subjected to utensils as your guests devour the course and enjoy the paintings you've graced them with at table. A superb set - the date code is a bit elusive on this set, but this colored maker mark was used between 1915-1941, so pretty well between and on the cusp of 2 world wars. It's wonderful to know that such artistry and elegance was being created amid that time of upheaval and destruction!

Very good to excellent condition, I see nothing to report to you by way of damage or even marks of use. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or dings and no loss to the fine art that plays out amongst the 8 stunning old plates. Rims of rich gold encircle the pure white plates and set a fine frame for the masterpiece paintings on each. All 8 are entirely hand painted, and each are different from the others. Name of the bird is noted on back of each plate, respectively. They are 10.5" diameters, large for game course plates, and superb on your table (or mine!). I'll be serving duck or game hens soon!
