About the Item

A superb 50-piece dinner service in delicate white Limoges porcelain, each piece edged with a fine rim of gilt, and bearing the elaborately formed monogramme 'DP'. Lids and handles are beautifully embellished, with interesting forms and textured finishes, as well as simple gilt decoration taking the form of sprays of foliage. Dating from the late 19th century, the set is in excellent overall condition, with some slight wear to the gilding and tiny chips and losses in places, as would be expected with a set of this age and with its history of usage. A very smart addition to any dinner table. The set comprises: • 12 dinner plates • 12 soup bowls • 12 dessert plates • 2 soup tureens (with lids) • 2 sauce boats with saucers (one has a lid) • 3 oval serving dishes (raviers) • 1 salad bowl • 1 deep, round serving dish • 1 oval serving plate • 2 round serving plates • 2 cake-serving plates
