A French Neoclassical faïence transfer printed creamware plate produced by Montereau, Creil, circa 1824-1836. A black transfer of an architectural image on a creamware body, depicting Le Palais De Justice d’Aix en Provence . The building is prominent, with the title printed below. The foreground de la place shows horse drawn carriages and strolling figures. A floral border follows the rim. Measures: 8.5 in. diameter x .75 in. height The expected wear. Light discoloring and surface marking on the verso.

Dating to the French Restoration period, this transfer-printed plate is glazed in the distinctive brilliant canary yellow for which the Creil and Monterau potteries were known. Printed in the neoclassic style, the image shows a man and woman in a romantic landscape, walking in front of a house. The man holds a long pole and smokes a pipe, the woman is holding a pitcher and a bowl. A wide, stylized floral border makes up the rim of the plate.
