Sarreguemines Art Nouveau Barbotine Majolica Glazed Earthenware Orchid Plate

About the Item

A Sarreguemines French Barbotine faïence majolica plate showing a spray of three purple and yellow orchids on a cream colored ground. Raised, dimensional mold work with a shaped rim glazed in a bright spring green edging. Green stems and leaves add interest to the pattern. Glazed by hand, multiples are available, each varying slightly in intensity of color. Marked with the mold number 3517 which corresponds to the year 1905, and impressed Sarreguemines. Measures: 8.25 in. Diameter. x 1.25 in. Height Very good conditions, the expected light crazing and kiln effects.
