From Thomas Mayer, an earthenware purple transfer printed plate in the Canova pattern, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, circa 1826-1838. A classical romantic central image, showing a large urn in the foreground, with a Gondola, buildings, and mountains in the distance. The border is comprised of repeated panels alternating with florals and picture medallions of a boating scene. Marked: A Lion atop a cartouche with the pattern name and the makers name. Measures: 7.25 in. diameter x .75 in. height Excellent antique condition.
