Antique Blue Bohemian Glass Hookah Pipe

Antique blue Bohemian glass hookah pipe Bohemian, late 19th century Measures: Height 43cm, diameter 14cm This hookah is a superb example of the beauty and high-quality craftsmanship of Bohemian glassware. The hookah is decorated with photo-realistic portraits of the Qajar kings, Naser al-Din Shah (reigned 1848-1896) and Mozaffar al-Din Shah (reigned 1896-1907), suggesting that the piece was created for the Persian market. The hookah is of typical form, with a cup-shaped top on a knopped and waisted stem. This stem is fitted onto a slightly flared bell-shaped base. The hookah is crafted from clear glass and covered with a white and blue overlay. It is decorated with shaped clear glass panels which are filled with colorful enamel flowers, gilt floral motifs and beads, and portraits of Naser al-Din Shah and Mozaffar al-Din Shah. The blue overlay is parcel gilt with swirling patterns and raised beads.
