About

Monumental art glass installation with three large glass bowls created by Bert Frijns in 1992. The bowls are made in a beautiful soft blue shade and placed upon low black stone pedestals. All three pieces are signed 'B. Frijns 1992' on the top rim of the bowls. The diameter of the bowls is 42 cm and the total height of each piece is 43 cm.

Bert Frijns studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Not only did he learn how to create sculptures, he also followed courses in working with glass. During these courses Frijns learned from one the most famous Dutch glass artists: Sybren Valkema. When he graduated, Frijns started his own studio. Bert Frijns is known for combining all different kinds of materials such as led, wood, stone, metal and ceramics with glass. He also makes his own tools, allowing him to create very large glass artworks.

This installation on sale is an iconic and monumental piece within his oeuvre.
It was therefore shown on the cover of an important lexicon on modern Dutch art glass: T.M. Eliëns & M. Singelenberg - Van der Meer, Lexicon Modern Nederlandse Glaskunst 1900-1992, 1993
