About the Item

Legras 1899s French Amber and Azure glass liqueur set, decanter, cordials and tray. Exceptional French Legras mount blown glass and handmade by the Masters of the Glass and crystal Legras, Saint Denis. This azure and amber service is composed of a decanter, six glasses with handles and a tray. The story of France would like Frederic Chopin, composer and pianist virtuoso has offered to George Sand, a famous novelist. These pieces are unmarked but is illustrated in the 1899 catalog of Legras: "Article Venetian genre". One of the most prestigious glassmaker : Legras & Cie. Francois Théodore Legras is one of four master glassmakers at the foundation of Art Nouveau with Gallé, Daum and Lalique. Wide variety of work with considerable shape models and varied scenery. Gold medal at the International Exposition in Barcelona in 1888, Sixth grand prize at the Universal Exhibition of Paris of 1889. He was also responsible for the glassware and crystal part of the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris. Measures: 8"3 (21 cm) decanter. 1"6 (4 cm) glasses. 7"5 (19 cm) tray. Weight: 1067 grams. The condition is very good to excellent. Micro-scratches from normal use. There are no cracks or repairs. Decanter has original stopper.
