Vintage Murano "Sommerso" Paperweight/Sculpture in Clear and Bright Yellow Glass.
The piece is an abstract sculpture in Murano Glass, made in the "Sommerso" technique, where a glass shape is "submerged" into glass of a different colour. In this case, a bright yellow cylinder is encased in clear "cristallo" glass, resulting in an everchanging and mesmerizing effect when looking at the piece from different angles and perspectives.
Probably conceived as a paperweight, given the two flat faces that allow it to stand firmly, the piece dates back to the 1970s and is actually preserved in optimal conditions, with no dents or chippings and only some expectable hairlines throughout. It is heavy and quite big, with an overall length/heigth of 16 centimeters.
