About the Item
Spectacular cloud ariel vase designed by Swedish designer Olle Alberius signed and dated Orrefors Gallery 1986. The blue color is very vibrant and shows very well as a very high end accent piece.
Olle Alberius is one of the known representatives of the illustrious Swedish ceramic design of the 20th century. He was one of the leading designers for the Rorstrand factory in the 1960s. Alberius is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
The name Ariel was inspired by the god of the wind in Shakespeare's play The Tempest. It is based on the Graal technique, and was developed by Bergkvist at the beginning of the 20thCentury. It was developed by Gustav Bergkvist, Vicke Lindstrand and Edvin Öhrström while working at Orrefors.
