Germanic Pewter Covered Beer Mug - 19th Century - Germany

About the Item

Old German beer mug with its finely engraved pewter lid. Big mug in pewter and terracotta. It is engraved on the pewter lid with Germanic phrases: We can read "Franziskaner Leisst Bräu Sedlmayr München". "Leisst Brau" means "let's brew". Very beautiful calligraphy. We discover a very beautiful work of pewter which allows an easy opening of the lid by pressure on the top of the handle. The terracotta, pottery container is engraved with "1/2L" 19th - Germany Gabriel Sedlmayr the Elder (born March 21, 1772 in Maisach; † November 19, 1839 in Munich) was a German brewer and brewery owner as well as a municipal representative of the Munich magistrate
