Roger Guerin Pitcher and Vase

About the Item

Great near pair of Roger Guerin pitcher and vase. One is a pitcher and one is a handled vase. Each is stylized with a Belgium Crest or Coat of Arms in the front of the pitcher with decorative motifs along the sides. Great for any collector of European Ceramics. Perfect for bookcases or coffee and console tables. Each vase is signed Guerin with a number. The taller pitcher is 6.75" tall and the short vase is 5.90" tall. Roger Guérin is a big name in Belgian Art Deco ceramics. Most of his work consists of ball vases and geometric or faceted vases, as well as sculptures. His favorite material is stoneware with a grand feu salt glaze. Guérin's works offer "charm and simplicity" and document the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco. He gained international recognition following his show at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925. Several of his works were acquired by King Albert or are present in several Belgian, Dutch, Italian and American museums.
