Vintage Transferware Cranberry and White Ceramic Footed Pitcher

About the Item

Vintage white and cranberry transferware porcelain footed pitcher This is one of my favorite colors in ceramic Transferware, is the cranberry red Transferware. This is a very nicely detailed pitcher with the pattern covering most of the surface and even the handle has a pretty vine decoration, The antique design depicts a European Italian Venetian village scene, with buildings, churches, some peasant and a gondola on the canal which suggest maybe that the hand painted toile scene was in Italy, Venice. Dimensions: 7.5” includes handle. 5.5” wide, 7” tall. The pitcher is in good vintage condition. Hallmarked with a crown and blason. About Transferware: Transferware, celebrated for its subject matter, technique, and enduring colors, remains a timeless classic, garnering admiration today just as it did in the 18th century. Originating in England in the mid-1750s, transferware is a distinctive form of pottery created through a transfer printing process that imparts colorful scenes onto ceramic surfaces. In the style of The Pickman S.A. La Cartuja De Sevilla ceramics factory established in Seville Spain.
