Adams & Bromley Majolica Branching Yellow Pears on Brown Bark Round Bread Tray
About the Item
A brightly glazed English majolica bread tray showing a graphic pattern of pears on a brown bark-like ground, Adams & Bromley - circa 1875-1885.
Four groups of bright, branching yellow pears with green leaves stand out boldly against the deep brown ground molded to resemble the bark of the pear tree. The branches twine down the deep sides of the tray, and meet to form the bottom rim. The footed verso shows a brown sponged glazed finish.
Made to serve breads or cheeses, this piece is unmarked, the mold is attributed to Adams & Bromley.
