French Porcelain Square Dessert Dish, Sevres, Dated 1790

About the Item

The well painted with three stylised flowerheads alternating with arrows surrounded by a maroon-ground border with black pearl bands, the rim decorated with four cartouches enclosing classical vases and pitchers alternating with long blue-ground panels decorated with blue arabesque scrollwork around classical urns and cornucopias, all surrounded by the same maroon borders. Painted by Guillaume Buteux and dated 1790.
