An Art Deco hand-turned and painted mushroom plate from C.J. Lanooy An earthenware plate from the Art Deco period Dated 1925 21 cm diagonal and 2 cm high Chris Lanooy (1881-1948) was a pottery painter, glass designer, decorative artist and potter who focused on technology in his designs and therefore experimented a lot with his mediums. At the age of fifteen, he worked as an apprentice-plateel painter at N.V. Haagsche Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg. After working as a decorative painter for a short time, Lanooy went to pottery in Gouda. He works at Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland in Gouda, and the Purmerend firms Brantjes and Haga.
