About the Item
This is a Saucer Dish in the Biarritz shape, hand painted in the "CORAL FIRS" Pattern by the renowned Art Deco designer Clarice Cliff, circa 1935.
This plate characterises the Art Deco period, combining its geometric shape, powerful simple design and bold colours.
The Coral Firs pattern was introduced in 1933 and was one of her her best selling landscape patterns, said to be inspired by the local Staffordshire hills which are topped with ragged fir trees.
