About the Item

Large Vintage Hopi Pueblo Redware Pottery Jar Scraffito Avanyu Design. Intricately etched and fully polished red large Hopi - San Ildefonso pottery jar. The water serpent (Avanyu) scraffito decorates the circumference in a buff and beige slip design. The jar is unsigned but is indicative of San Ildefonso origin. It stands 7 ¾” tall with a diameter of 6 ¼” and an opening just under 4”. The condition is good with minor wear due to handling (see photos). Measurements: H 7.75” x D 6.25” Weight: 3 lbs 10 oz.
