Salt-glazed stoneware sweetmeat dishes in the form of vine leaves,
a pair,
circa 1745-1765
The Staffordshire salt glaze stoneware dishes are molded in the form of a vine leaf and are curved at the top of the leaf and with a straight stem at the other end of the leaf. The small dish is raised on three tapering feet.
Dimensions: 4 2/3 inches long x 3 inches wide x 1 inch high
Provenance: Applied black & gold label from D M & P Manheim Antiques Corp.,305 East 61st Street, New York City.
Reference: See English Saltglazed Earthenware, Chas. F.C. Luxmoore, Plate 57 for a block mould for a similar dish in the Stoke-on-Trent, Hanley Museum.
