This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver cream jug has a plain pear shaped form. The body of this silver cream jug is embellished with flat chased simplified leaf designs incorporating scrolling borders and scale motif panels, in the Rococo style. The decoration to the body incorporates an applied moulded border to the upper shaped rim and an impressive scrolling leaf design to the underside of the spout. The formation of this Edwardian piece reflects an early Georgian design and style often associated with the renowned silversmith Paul de Lamerie. This impressive example of Edwardian teaware is fitted with a cast and applied shaped scrolling handle with a predatory bird's head to the upper terminal and further leaf designs to the lower socket. The jug is supported by three impressive cast and applied ribbed feet with scrolling sockets in junction with the body. The underside of this sterling silver cream jug bears the retailer's mark 'Carrington & Co., London, 130 Regent St', in addition to the registration number '6940'. The body of this silver cream jug is embellished with embossed floral ornamentation accented with scrolling leaf designs and panels of scale textures. The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered and features a vacant cartouche to one side. The lower portion of the body encompassed with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by the South Devon Agricultural Society to Richard Anthony for the best managed Farm under 150 acres'. The rim of this 1830s cream jug is embellished with an applied alternating shell decorated border. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast antique mystical fish decorated handle ornamented with scale decoration. The domed circular portion of the foot is encircled with a band of floral and scrolling leaf decoration. The interior of this antique silver cream jug retains the original gilding.
