A Large Late Regency Period Sheffield Tea Urn

About the Item

This is a splendid example of the form. that breaks away from Neo-Classical plainness into exuberant and lively ornament. The two handled urn is banded with leaves and acanthus. The shaped rectangular base is supported by shell and lion-paw feet. The spigot which repeats the shell motif of the foot is in excellent condition. There is no plate maker's mark but it to the standard of Mathew Bolton
