The spoon has a plain rounded bowl and the fork has six tines. The anterior surface of each silver server is embellished with the contemporary engraved crest of an eagle rising, in its beak an escutcheon pendent by a ribbon, thereon a hank of cotton. The crest is encompassed with a garter bearing the motto 'Multa tuli fecique' - I have borne and done many things*. The reverse surface of the serving fork and spoon incorporates a pip to the terminal, in addition to a rounded heel to the bowl/drop. The upper and lower portions of this piece are embellished with embossed and chased bead and scroll decoration accenting concave bordered, fluted decoration all in a spiral design. The sugar caster retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover, embellished with pierced decoration incorporating chased and embossed bead and scroll decoration, the screw fit attachment indicates the fine quality of this piece.
