About

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English straight sterling silver Old English pattern flatware set / service for six persons; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection. The pieces of this exceptional, antique George V straight sterling silver flatware service for six persons have been crafted in the Old English pattern. The anterior surface of each fork handle and the reverse surface of each spoon handle features a pip to the terminal. Each spoon, including the sauce ladle, bears a plain rounded heel to the reverse of the bowl. This antique silver cutlery canteen consists of 55 pieces: Basic service: Six table knives. Six table forks. Six table spoons. Six soup spoons. Six dessert knives. Six dessert forks. Six dessert spoons. Six teaspoons. Six coffee spoons. Additional pieces: Sauce ladle. The fundamental pieces of this antique silver cutlery set have been crafted by Sheffield silversmiths Atkin Brothers, apart from the table and dessert knives, which are replacements. The anterior and posterior surface of the coffee spoons retain the original gilding to the bowls. These impressive examples of antique silverware are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing. "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time. Condition This antique cutlery canteen is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece are all very clear. Dimensions Table knife 25cm/9.8".
