Antique Sterling Silver Presentation Submarine on Plinth

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive unusual antique sterling silver presentation submarine on plinth; an addition to our transportation related silverware collection This exceptional and unusual, antique George V English sterling silver presentation piece has been realistically modelled in the form of a submarine. This antique submarine model features articulated parts including the bow plane, propeller shafts and hatch. The central of this impressive submarine is embellished with a variety of protruding features, including a communications antenna, periscope and steering wheel. The elongated surface of the submarine is encompassed with an impressive cable style rail. The decoration to the ship incorporates the blue hot enamel decorated numerals '44' to either side of the central tower, in addition to the initials 'C14' to the anterior portion of the vessel. This impressive antique silver submarine ornament surmounts an ebonised stained wood presentation plinth fitted with a vacant rectangular plaque to the lower portion of one side. The posterior portion of the ship is further ornamented with a protruding pole, accented with a red hot enamel horizontal pennant flag. The plinth is supported by four impressive button style feet. The lower portion of the model bears the retailer's mark 'Pace, Plymouth', an addition to the registration number 'Rd 54054J' Condition This antique silver submarine ornament is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the ship are all very clear.
