Cardeilhac rare 1840s French sterling silver and ebony knife set 12 pieces with box. Fabulous French sterling silver dessert/entremet/cheese/salad knife set 12 pieces with ebony handles, sterling silver blades, ferrules and collars. Style blades allow certify the period of manufacture of these knives at the beginning of the 19th century. No monograms on the knife set, just on the original box. Hallmarks: Head of Minerve 1 st titre on the blades for 950/1000 French sterling silver guarantee. Prestigious silversmith: Cardeilhac Suffice it to say that the family Cardeilhac was active in the silversmithing since 1802 and was absorbed by the prestigious Christofle in 1951 (which always publishes these models) to glimpse the importance of this manufactory! The Maison Cardeilhac has exhibited and won medals in most exhibitions of the 19th century. It is a cutler who became one the most important French manufacturing-silversmiths of all types of cutlery rich and silverware.
