Chinese Export Silver Tea Cup and Saucer

About the Item

A Chinese Export Silver Tea Cup and Saucer embossed and chased with bamboo against a matte background. The cup has a bamboo-form handle and sits on a plain collet foot, and the saucer has the same decoration.The retailer marked as WH for 'Wang Hing' (宏兴), and the silversmith mark is 公和 (Gong He), circa 1900. Wang Hing was the biggest silver retailer to Westerners in China between the 1860s and 1940s, and the most well known and influential.
