Fine William IV Sterling Silver Vinaigrette by Joseph Willmore, Birmingham 1835

About

Joseph Willmore is regarded as a one of the finest small-works silversmiths of the 19th century, known primarily as a vinaigrette specialist. The lid and underside showing a fine engine turned surface, the hinged lid decorated with a foliate cast border opening to a richly gilded interior fitted with a hinged and exceptionally fine hand-pierced grille. The interior bearing impressed hallmarks, date marks and makers marks. Dimensions: 3/8" high x 1.25” wide x .75” deep. Weight, 11 grams.
