George III Sterling Silver Footed Oval Tray, London, 1803-1804

London, England, possibly Hannah Northcote, circa 1803-1804. This sleek George III sterling silver tray is the perfect size for two bottles of wine, champagne, or whiskey. The oval shape in this size is a bit unusual. Finely made with excellent attention to detail, the charming feet and gadrooned edges are perfect finishing touches. Very good condition. Remark: “London sterling of the Georgian period set the tone for quality and design worldwide.” Size: 1 1/2" high x 13 1/2" long x 9" wide Weight: 21.5 ozt Hallmarks: Crown for London, rampant Lion for sterling, date mark for 1803-1804, and maker's mark HN, possibly for Hannah Northcote.
